Canelo Alvarez and Gennady Golovkin won't fight

Canelo Álvarez and Gennady Golovkin didn’t fight on May 5. And if recent reports are true, they’re not going to fight ever again. While both Oscar De La Hoya (Canelo’s promoter) and Tom Loeffler (GGG’s promoter) were willing to compromise, there was one catch. Golovkin just wanted parity, a 50-50 split between the two competitors. But that’s not going to happen. And per ESPN’s Dan Rafael, De La Hoya says that’s not happening.“He’s stubborn and wanting 50-50, and it’s not going to happen. The Canelo train has left the station.”"Stubborn" is on add choice of words, considering Golovkin isn’t coming off a suspension for a positive test. Canelo is. But hey, promoters are going to promote. De La Hoya is just doing his job. That said, GGG has absolutely nothing to prove — especially to a cheater. At 36 years old, he’s 38-0-1.
