Cleveland Browns executive Alonzo Highsmith, who is considered to be the right-hand man of general manager John Dorsey, had some very interesting things to say about Josh Rosen and Josh Allen, who were considered by the Browns at the top of the draft.Highsmith, speaking at the Pro Football Hall of Fame luncheon on Monday, revealed he actually had Darnold at the top of his board for most of the pre-draft process. But after meeting with Baker Mayfield, whom the Browns ended up selecting No. 1 overall, he changed his mind. “Then comes the part where you meet them off the field. You watch their workouts. You watch everything,” Highsmith said, per Steve Doerschuck of CantonRep.com. And Baker blew me away. Highly, highly intelligent. Highly competitive. “And he had a trait that some of the good ones have. I call it efficacy. That includes the power to effect other people. I thought that of all the quarterbacks I watched, he stood out far and above the other guys. When he walked into a room, you knew he was there.”

Until he gets out on the field and shows otherwise, Baker Mayfield is going to have to live with Johnny Manziel comparisons.The No. 1 pick of the Cleveland Browns seems to know this, and he has a pretty good response to those who would make such a comparison.“It’s understandable, obviously,” Mayfield told the MMQB’s Peter King when told that a fan had referred to the quarterback as Manziel 2.0. “First-round picks by the Browns, close to the same size, playmakers … But we’re two completely different people. I care about winning. I care about doing things the right way. I just want to be judged for who I am.”It’s the best answer Mayfield can offer right now. All that matters is that the Browns aren’t buying those comparisons, and Mayfield seems to understand the expectations he’s facing — and why Manziel failed to meet similar ones. Ultimately, it will come down to whether he can play well enough to disprove these comparisons.

On Monday, news broke via TMZ Sports that Oakland Raiders left tackle Donald Penn is being investigated for domestic violence following an altercation with his wife, Dominique.Per the original report, police were called to the scene after Penn allegedly slapped his wife’s butt, poured a drink over her head and grabbed her wrist. By the time the police had arrived on the scene, Penn was no longer on the premises.Since then, Penn and his wife have issued a joint statement via his representative, Denise White, per TMZ Sports: “There was a verbal disagreement, there was NO physical altercation. Kevin Fiala: Predators’ double OT win ‘shows great character’
The Nashville Predators pulled off a big win on Sunday night against the Winnipeg Jets thanks to a huge goal from Kevin Fiala.Fiala scored just over five minutes into the second overtime to give the Predators a 5-4 victory that tied their second-round playoff series at a game apiece. Nashville blew a 4-3 lead late in the game that sent things to overtime. From there it took another 25 minutes for a winner to be decided. The Dallas Cowboys have been trying to trade for Seattle Seahawks safety Earl Thomas for a while now, but it didn’t happen during the 2018 NFL Draft. That doesn’t mean it cannot still happen, however, according to David Moore of the Dallas Morning News.Moore reported Sunday that, “The Cowboys’ attraction to Thomas is real. Pablo Sandoval was impressive enough as a pitcher on Saturday that San Francisco Giants manager Bruce Bochy will consider doing it again if he has to.Sandoval touched 88 MPH on the gun and mixed in some offspeed pitches as he worked the ninth in a 15-6 loss to the Los Angeles Dodgers on Saturday. Bochy was impressed enough that he admitted he may use Sandoval on the mound again down the line.“He looked like a pitcher,” Bochy said Sunday, via Henry Schulman of the San Francisco Chronicle. “That’s what was impressive, his delivery, his tempo.”Giants catcher Nick Hundley even noted that Sandoval shook him off once, preferring a fastball over the called curveball.“He should have. Matt Millen dealing with rare disease, likely needs heart transplant
Former NFL linebacker and executive Matt Millen will likely need of a heart transplant. Per Mark Wogenrich of The Morning Call, that stems from the fact that Millen went years without knowing that he was suffering from amyloidosis, a rare, life-threatening disease.“Amyloidosis is a rare disease that occurs when abnormal proteins called amyloids, which are produced in bone marrow, build up in organs or tissue,” Wogenrich noted. “Primary amyloidosis, the most common form of the disease, can affect the heart, lungs, intestines or nervous system. Secondary amyloidosis most often affects the kidneys, spleen, liver or intestines.”Millen’s initial plan was to postpone treatment until after the 2017 football season. But upon hearing that he wouldn’t survive the season if he did that, plans changed.Millen played in the NFL from 1980-1991. Is calling someone a "bandwagon" normal?
So my friends that are really into sports say its normal to call people bandwagons. But that doesn't make any sense to me, since the term comes from "jumping on the bandwagon." There's no way that calling someone a bandwagon makes sense( at least to me). The Houston Rockets are getting a boost in the form of Luc Mbah a Moute’s return to the lineup for the Western Conference semifinals.Mbah a Moute dislocated his shoulder in early April, a frustrating injury that cost him the first round of the playoffs. He will play, however, as the Rockets open round two against the Utah Jazz. Even though Mbah a Moute isn’t one of Houston’s core players, this is nicely timed. Penguins’ Evgeni Malkin will miss Game 2
Despite rumors to the contrary, Pittsburgh Penguins head coach Mike Sullivan announced that center Evgeni Malkin will not play this afternoon in Game 2 against the Washington Capitals, according to Pittsburgh Post-Gazette’s Jason Mackey. Sullivan said if Malkin was going to be in for Game 2, it wouldn’t be in a limited role, according to Associated Press’ Stephen Whyno. It’s possible Malkin will be ready for Game 3.Malkin, who has missed two games due to a lower-body injury, was listed as probable yesterday after successfully getting through a full practice. Shaquem Griffin turned heads everywhere with a 4.38 time in the 40-yard dash, but it turns out that number was reportedly not quite accurate and his draft stock was adjusted accordingly.Griffin’s original 4.38 time caught the attention of pretty much everyone at the NFL Combine, a time which quickly moved him into the top 100 of many draft boards. However, according to Frank Cooney of NFLDraftScout, the clock started a touch late on Griffin’s 40 run, and his time was closer to 4.58.Griffin was readjusted down draft boards accordingly, with his time going from elite to merely solid.None of this stopped Griffin from becoming a fifth-round pick for the Seattle Seahawks, sparking emotional scenes. One of the best stories of the entire 2018 NFL Draft without question has been the emergence of former Central Florida linebacker Shaquem Griffin. Stephen Curry is ‘very likely’ to return for Game 2
The Golden State Warriors didn’t need Stephen Curry in Game 1 against the New Orleans Pelicans. But it looks like they’ll be getting him back ahead of Game 2. Ahead of Game 1, head coach Steve Kerr would rule Curry out. Falcons GM says Julio Jones is in a good spot
Following the NFL Draft, concerns over Julio Jones would surface. Not only did he avoid voluntary offseason workouts, but he would also delete photos of the Falcons on Instagram after the draft. Does anyone else love the sport of Basketball but hate the NBA?
I have two major problems with the NBA. The joke of the draft "lottery" system and the predictability of the entire league and how NBA seasons feel like a complete waste of time and feel pointless.
Let's be real, did anyone think the Bucks would actually upset the Celtics last night? Does anyone actually think the Pacers will upset the Cavs tonight?
We all know what will happen, LeBron will play like a mad man, Pacers will lose, Cavs will still make the Finals and the Finals matchup will be ::::::drum roll:::: yep, how did you guess?! The Cavs V Warriors.
Seen this movie a million times. Watching the NBA is a lot like watching Titanic over and over again and hoping everytime that maybe this time the ship won't sink or maybe this time Rose let's Jack on that damn door and they both survive.
BUT nope, it's the same song and dance over and over and over again. The thing that makes this worse is I actually LOVE the sport of Basketball, it takes true skill and talent, it's extremely fun to watch and I love the pacing of the game.
I just hate how there is literally 0 parity in the NBA and it is way, WAY too predictable. It's set up so only one or two teams dominate for years while all the other teams just basically get participation trophies.

Klay Thompson says Pelicans’ pace ‘was tiring’
The Golden State Warriors didn’t let up in Game 1 against the Pelicans. But head coach Alvin Gentry says they’re still going to play up-tempo. Speaking to ESPN’s Chris Haynes, Gentry says the following:“We’re still going to play with a fast pace, and we are going to do a better job of spacing the floor. We’re going to be better defensively from the standpoint of not having breakdowns.”But he doesn’t stop there.“We’re not going to go back and change everything that we did. We’re not going to all of a sudden walk the ball up the court now and try to play slow. You know, what we’ve got to do is, we’ve got to get AD [Anthony Davis] more involved in the game from the standpoint of even the double-teams, we’ve got to get him out on the floor and get space, and we’ve got to do a better job of shot selection. Maurice Hurst to have annual heart checks with Raiders
The Oakland Raiders may have landed a first-round talent in the fifth round of the NFL Draft, but Maurice Hurst’s health is something the team is going to have to monitor very closely.Hurst, a former Michigan defensive tackle whom Oakland picked at No. 150 overall, slid way down the draft board after a heart condition forced him to leave the NFL Scouting Combine early. Raiders general manager Reggie McKenzie said Hurst will undergo an annual heart evaluation.“It’s something he has to go through, however you want to term it,” McKenzie said, per Michael Gehlken of the Las Vegas Review-Journal. “Now that they’ve found out whatever this condition is — I’m not going to get into all the medical terms, all the what-ifs. He’s just going to have to follow a certain deal where he gets checked just so everyone is on the same page and we all know everything.”Hurst said he “(doesn’t) see it being a problem at all” when discussing his heart condition after he was drafted.
